Moe's Alley Live Music: Brand Development, Graphic design
I had the opportunity to create graphics and content for a beloved, local & woman-owned live music venue called Moe’s Alley. My role involved modernizing the brand-feel and broadening the Moe’s Alley audience to include more young adults through fresh graphics and content, a social media reboot, targeted ad campaigns and updated verbal brand identity.
Drink Koozie
I created two drink koozie designs bearing in mind brand differentiation, millennial appeal, and emotional connection.
I came up with the “Hot Riffs, Warm Hearts, Cold Bevvies” verbage to both tie into the products purpose (keep cold drinks cold!) and elicit the warm atmosphere and excitement of a live music show at Moe’s Alley. I went with a hip, retro font and added a little heart to reinforce the good vibes and appeal to young adults.
“Hits different at Moe’s” came to mind while brainstorming potential brand slogans that could emphasize the unique live music experience at Moe’s Alley. They’ve got best sound engineers in town and bring in pro-level touring artists, yet maintain an intimacy and laid-back community feel that’s unlike any other venue in the county.
I wanted people to feel like they are on the in-crowd of something special. “If you know, you know” sort of vibe. “Hits” is of course a musical reference for drum hits and top songs, in addition to meaning “feels.”
I adapted the circular logo to a rectangular shape by removing some elements and replacing the location with the venue name.
Reggae Tee
Moe’s Alley has a strong community of Reggae concert-goers lovingly called “Rasta Cruz” and wanted to make a genre-inspired logo tee. I was asked to use the circular logo, replace “Live Music” with “Reggae,” and use a reggae tricolor gradient. I played with some textures and paint splatters to give the design a bit of an edgy, urban feel.
